The German Wirehaired Pointer is a strong, medium-sized breed that originated in Germany in the late 19th century. They are a versatile hunting breed, able to work in all sorts of terrain, from water to mountains. They have a wiry coat that is dense and weather-resistant, and with a distinctive facial mask. They are an active breed, with a lot of energy and an eagerness to please. They are loyal and make good family companions.
